WALTER LAPPERT
In 1983, Walter Lappert founded the company after months of brainstorming and planning sessions with his wife Mary and son Michael. These discussions took place around the green marble table in his home and at the small ice cream shop he owned in Sausalito, California. His shop served locally produced ice cream, which Walter always believed could be improved. More importantly, Walter wanted to create and sell ice cream in Kauai, his favorite place in the world.
“I want to open a store that makes and sells ice cream in Kauai,” he said. And so, the plan was set in motion. If you visit the factory in Hanapepe, Kauai, you will see the original building Walter built. Although it has evolved over the years, his commitment to the highest quality product remains unchanged.
